Our current project has just started, and was made possible by obtaining a Grant for £298,132 that comes from government’s Cultural Recovery Fund through Historic England’s Capital Works Programme which is part of this Fund.
It has been officially announced that St. Mary's Church will receive £298,132 of Funding from the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund to completely replace the existing roof of St. Mary's Church.
Update 28/11/2021 - The date for the start of the works is Monday 29 November 2021. At this point the Project Finish Date for the completion of all works and the Church being handed over to the parish by the builders again is 30 June 2022, this is the latest date for the completion of all the known works, at this time. The end date is subject to supply of materials, the weather, COVID-19 conditions, and what we discover when the existing roof is removed. We are all hopeful the work will be completed before this deadline.
This Grant is specified to be used for the re-roofing Nave, both side aisles.
This work is vital to ensure that the roof, currently in really poor condition can be repaired using the original Welsh Slate.
Our Architects, CAROE ARCHITECTURE have supplied a drawing showing the highlighted area of the current project.
This project must be completed by 30 June 2022, yes, 30 June 2022.
